My BALI trip ~ 14/5 - 19/5 ~

10th Aug 2010.... this was the date i purchased my BALI trip tix via AirAsia (0 cost promo)... it cost us only MYR 372.00 (2-way trip)....very cheap huh....we looked forward for this trip that we waited for long whole 9 months..yup 9 months!! but what the heck, its CHEAP!!

we changed our MYR $$ to Rupiahs which made us millionaires overnight..sim's so excited of this trip but the only show stopper was the connection flight from KUL --> DPS was a lot of time wasted...Let me go thru the summary details of my BALI trip from 14/5 to 19/5...here it goes....

Day 0 (14/5):-

PEN --> KUL departed @ 0815 hrs & our connection flight from KUL --> DPS was @ 1750 hrs...we wandered around LCCT airport for 8 hrs...8 hrs man!! we could do so many things in 8 hrs..ish ish...we felt that the time goes really slow...too slow...initially, we planned to rent a room for 3 hrs (refresher package) @ TuneHotel but guess what, luck is not at our side, we were told that due to power failure, there is no refresher package available...&%*%*$*%*....no choice that we had to go all the way back to the airport, read our books (True Singapore Ghost Stories) & continue to WAIT patiently!!!

We reached BALI @ about 9pm & our tour guide was already there holding a piece of cardboard with my name on it...we were so hungry that we could eat whole cow or pig or elephant or whatever...he dropped us at our hotel Wina Holiday Villa, Kuta...we check in, drop our baggage & rush out for our 1st meal..........the meal was satisfying!!

1st dinner at Bali

Day 1 (15/4):-

After having our breakfast at hotel, we went for our 1st day tour around Bali...Barong Dance (never ever go for traditional performance next time...bored to death) --> Batik factory --> Silver Factory --> Lunch @ the famous Ibu Oka 2 for babi guling (taste not bad, similar to our "sio bak") --> Gao Gajah (one of the temple) --> Kintamani (volcano mountain- too bad it started to rain, didnt have the chance to take the nice view of the mountain) --> Kopi Luwak processing farm (bought Bali coffee, ginseng coffee & lemongrass drink- kopi luwak is jz too expensive & we decided not to pay for the civet cat's shit) --> Tegallalang (padi field)...

We asked our guide to drop us at Bali's mall & we have a walk back to our hotel after having our dinner at Dulang restaurant...sim ordered fried rice with beef & me, pasta with shrimp...the dinner was so-so...

Day 2 (16/5):-
Today is another trip by our guide around Bali....we started off with Taman Ayun (they have this telco tower look alike thingy where they claimed ministers uses it to "berkomunikasi" with the God of the Kintamani Mountain) --> Ulun Danu Temple (temple in the lake) --> Monkey Forest (where sim took photos with the monkeys & bats) --> Tanah Lot (beautiful place located near the sea, there is holy blessing where you may wash your face with the holy water & those ppl there will put rice on your forehead & a flower on the side of your ears)....

We had our dinner at Made's Warung....i loved the dish of ribs with green papaya indonesian style...it have an aromatic scent...no regret trying it...my nasi campur have tempe in it & i dont really fancy tempe at all...its have a weird taste...after another satisfying dinner, we headed back to our hotel & spend the night watching CSI & House drinking Bintang neer... :P

Day 3 & 4 (17/5 & 18/5):-
Free & easy time! We stroll around Kuta & Seminyak on foot..its damn hot...the sun was killing us....I am lucky to have my hat & umbrella with me...halfway Sim decided to have his legs massaged & me getting my manicure done...its super cheap alright...total up its just RM 35.

We proceeded to Kuta beach & had a bowl of Bakso (clear noodles with big big meat balls) yummmyy!! Kuat beach have this Balinese ppl offering manicure, massage, temporary tatoo & surfing lesson services which is much more cheaper than those offered at the shop... there was many ang mohs sunbathing in skimpy bikini/ naked (sim cuci mata kao kao) & surfing...

We were thinking if we should have our dinner at the famous Jimbaran cos we know it will definitely ostus a fortune to have the seafood there....many says that the sunset is beautiful & we wouldnt want to miss that...end up spending RM200++...Sim heartache lo....

Next day, we went to Denpasar where there is nothing special...just like normal wet market like everywhere else...to our horror...there isnt any taxi noticeable...how are we suppose to get to Kuta????!!!! thank God there's a shuttle van approached us & brought us back to Legian instead of Kuta and we thought of travelling back to Kuta on foot but guess what...we're lost...ended up in a taxi again...nevermind that...its SPA time!! we took the honeymoon package which cost us Rp.590,000 for body massage, body scrub, facial & cream bathe....

Its a relaxing yet frustrated trip for both of us due to the streaking hot weather....other than that it was enjoyable experience & we shall be back to Bali for SPA again...next up will be our honeymoon...its not in the planning yet but will take Taiwan or Hong Kong into consideration...shall wait for AirAsia's 0 fair to get their cheap cheap tix....adios & stay tune for more updates...

One & only one...my favourite photo of the trip

For the LOVE of cooking (pt.2)

Many says that good food can capture the heart & soul of your love ones especially if its homemade by yourself....i totally agree with this statement...what makes me say so? there's proof to this...yup..its my dearie Sim...i really should take a photo of him enjoying the food & desserts....

i am addicted to cooking & baking...he enjoys eating it & i enjoyed cooking for him & his parents if they're around...last weekend my theme was indian dishes...fried cabbage, fish curry & chicken with tomato all cooked using indian spices....it was quite stressful & scary when you're cooking for your in laws 1st time ever...but luckily it turned out alright...positive feedbacks received....

Fried cabbage

Chicken with tomatoes

Curry fish

Next baking attempt...TIRAMISU...i do not have an oven at home, so....all my desserts currently via chilling process....one of the ingredients for making tiramisu is Savoiardi biscuits or lady fingers...i had a difficult time getting it...Sim was working over the weekend..so i drove his parents out for grocery shopping...went to Giant, Tesco etc but still couldnt find my Savoiardi biscuits...the dad started to ask me what am i looking for & i said "lady fingers"...you might have guessed what he said in returned ya..."lady fingers should be at the vege section & why are you searching high & low at the biscuits section..ish ish"...fuh!!! me & sim's mom was laughing non-stop...keh keh keh...

Thanks to Grace i manage to get Savoiardi biscuits at Demeters, Jelutong (beside post office)

tada!! homemade TIRAMISU...a bit too wet..have to cut down on the coffee essence/ egg white but still super satisfied with the results...

GAMBATEH to me on my cooking journey!! Have a nice week ahead my friends....muaxxxx!!
